The Golden State Warriors are one of the four basketball teams in California, which are part of the NBA. The Warriors hold the distinction of winning the league’s first-ever championship, claiming the title in the 1946-47 season while still based in Philadelphia. The team relocated to the Bay Area and became known as the “San Francisco Warriors” in 1962 and later adopted the “Golden State” saying based on the 1971-72 season.Through the years, the Warriors have had 18 Hall of Famers, six of whom were named one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players in 1996. In total, the Warriors have won four NBA championships (1947, 1956, 1975 and 2015) and have appeared in the NBA Finals on four other occasions (1948, 1964, 1967 and 2016).
